The H Family

So it is time for a much needed backstory. I can't believe I put it off for so long, but here is the mystery of Miko.

So from left to right, is her father Itachi, her older brother Tenshi, and her mother Sayomi.

Sayomi is a full cheshire cat, and Itachi is a common orange tabby. Tenshi is also a full orange tabby. Miko is half tabby half cheshire.

Everyone was happy and nobody was crazy until a few years after Miko was born. Miko was the favorite child of Itachi and he usually favored her over her brother. Tenshi didn't mind this, because she looked up to him more than anybody else. Sayomi didn't favor either of them, but she loved terrifying the hell out of them with her cheshire invisibility. One day, Itachi has a near death experience, and though he ended up living through the event...he suffers a permanent change. Everyday, he started acting weirder, babbling to himself or feeling as if he had no control over his actions. He kept muttering nonsense about seeing how everyone would die, and his family became more worried and fearsome of him. It would get so bad that Tenshi would have to console Miko very often. Letting her sleep in his bed, having her follow behind him for protection, and having her always close by were common examples of how he would look after her.

One night, Miko and Tenshi wake up to sounds in their house that resemble a break in. Tenshi leaves the room to go check on everything, but never comes back. After waiting in bed for a long time, Miko finally leaves the room only to find that Sayomi and Tenshi have both been clawed to death. Itachi has gone off the deep end and decides to kill his entire family. He tries to explain to a horrified Miko that this is the only way he can 'save' everyone. He strangles Miko and tells her that she is more like him than she thinks as she suffocates. After dying, Miko ends up in limbo wandering aimlessly. Death ends up approaching her, and he offers her a contract for her life because of her 'special' sense. He tells her he will let her live again if she agrees to work under him as an apprentice reaper, binding her to kill a minimum of one person each year. If she fails to keep her end of the deal, she will die like she was supposed to. She agrees, unaware of her special skill and desperate to live again solely to kill her father in revenge. She is also under the false assumption that her mom and brother would also be pitied upon.

To her extreme disappointment, Miko finds that even though she lives again her family is still dead. She returns home in attempt to fight her dad to the death, but finds that he has stabbed himself repeatedly after killing everyone else. After a few weeks of living alone and having to scavenge for shelter and food, she attempts to drown herself at the bridge. This is where she meets Izuna who tries to stop her and takes her in as a sister. After she grows up a few years, Miko notices her skill coming into play. She sees hourglasses above the heads of everyone, the colors of the hour glasses have a general time frame of how long the person has left to live.

White - Will die within a few days
Blue - Will die within the month
Green - Will die within 2-11 months
Red - Will die within a few years
Black - Has at least 10 years left of life.
Sideways Black - Immortal or unable to die by normal means

At first keeping up her end of the deal is difficult and hard on her. She actually ends up breaking down after the first few kills, but after constant exposure to the cruel behaviors and selfishness of others, it becomes much easier. She ends up forcing herself to enjoy killing people to make her life easier on herself, which has caused her to be a little kill happy every now and then. At the same time, it makes her more reserved and timid, since she is afraid to open up to most people in fear of being taunted or mocked. As for her family, she occasionally searched for a trace of them again in the future, but she could never remember her last name and therefore it was difficult to find information on anybody. She was too young to remember how to pronounce her last name, and after being taken in by Izuna she never used it. All she remembers is that her last name started with H. Now in the present, she never knew why her father went crazy, what happened to her family after death, or even her last name.
